King and Queen's Rapier Championship

This past weekend was King and Queen's Rapier Championship. It meant that there was lots and lots of fencing going on as well as seeing family that hasn't been seen in far too long. I didn't have a scroll go out at this particular event, so my brain was zeroed in on fencing my little heart out. That's not to say I didn't bring my art, in fact I had to hand off a completed scroll so that it could make it to its final destination.

Gilgamesh AoA

This past Pennsic I had an AoA go out, it was for Gilgamesh of Havres des Glaces. A scroll that I was actually quite pleased with. Granted, it would be another scroll that I wouldn't get to see go out, but as long as the recipient is happy with it, that's the part that matters to me. For this piece I wanted to try something a little different, giving myself a bit more of a challenge.

Cadet Scarves

A while back my husband asked me if I would be able to embroider his arms onto his cadet scarf. While I hadn't actually done anything other than tracing a generic pattern before this time, I figured I would give it a go; after all, it wasn't as if the hubs was going to complain because I told him up front I wasn't sure how well it was going to turn out.

QoC

A scroll I made that went out as a Queens Order of Courtesy (QoC)

It was one of my first attempt at people and clothing. Unfortunately I lost the links to the original source when the NY Met Online Collection updated their website. I'll have to go searching and update with the source when I find it.

Adventures in White-Work

War of the Roses was this past weekend and I had a scroll go out. Unfortunately we were unable to make it but I saw a couple of pictures of the AoA recipient with the scroll I made for them and they looked happy with it. And I was told that my scroll was well received at the event. I don't have any pictures of them with it, and I didn't ask permission yet to use one of the ones other people took, so I can't show you that, but I can show you the actual scroll and the process leading up to the final piece.

For a while I've been admiring some of the beautiful white-work that I've seen around; some of it is so breathtakingly beautiful that I wanted to try my hand at it. And, this time, I decided to start small instead of diving head first into something that I had never tried.

Coronation, Scholas and Demos

April was....interesting to say the very least.

Teo and I had several events that we went to. The beginning of the month we went to Coronation, it was held in Higgin's Armory. The site was beautiful, the building itself has always been a beautiful one. Only downfall was that the sheer amount of bodies in the great hall rose the temperature high enough that a few people even suffered from heat exhaustion. The set up for court was a bit awkward, only one side able to hear on one side or the other, but it was still beautiful. And the show itself was a pretty damn good one.

One of the pictures I took actually happened to be my favorite one:

A new king arrives in style. It's how we roll in the East.

Mudthaw Scrolls

So, my first two scrolls were given out yesterday at Mudthaw. Even though I wasn't there to see it I was told that the scrolls were well received.

They were my first scrolls, so I was a little nervous that they wouldn't really be worthy. I mean, I know that I'm not perfect, but I've also seen some of the scrolls that go out and they're all breathtakingly gorgeous. My goal was to make something that the recipients would enjoy.

After all, that's all we can really hope for, right?
